Source: PIB, NITI Aayog The SDG India Index 2019-20, developed by NITI Aayog, was launched on December 30th, 2019. The SDG Index and Dashboard Report 2017 has included 9 indicators, from financial secrecy to weapons exports, in an attempt to account for how development patterns of the rich countries may generate adverse “spillovers” that may hinder the ability of poorer countries to escape poverty and achieve sustainable development. The World Bank: Data. The Atlas of Sustainable Development Goals 2018 presents maps, charts, and stories related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.. It discusses trends, comparisons, and measurement issues using accessible and shareable data visualizations. The  SDG India Index,  which was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Global Green Growth Institute and United Nations in India, was launched by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, NITI Aayog Members Dr Ramesh Chand, Dr VK Paul and Dr VK Saraswat, CEO Shri Amitabh Kant, UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Yuri Afanasiev and MoSPI Secretary & CSI Shri Pravin Srivastava. NITI Aayog has the mandate of overseeing the adoption and monitoring of SDGs in the country, at the national and sub-national level. The SDG India Index, whose first edition was launched in December 2018, was the first tool developed by any large country to monitor the progress towards achieving SDGs at the sub-national level.

The Arab Region SDG Index and Dashboards are intended as a tool for governments and other stakeholders to measure progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to highlight gaps in both implementation and data.

The 2018 Index and Report find that no country is on track to achieve all of the SDGs, and progress is slowest on the environment-focused goals, such as SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 15 (life on land). SDG INDEX The SDG Index aims to promote healthy competition among states and Union Territories (UTs) by evaluating their progress in social, economic and environmental terms which will help India achieve the UN SDG goals by 2030.

The SDG India Index is intended to provide a holistic view on the social, economic and environmental status of the country and its States and UTs. It has been designed to provide an aggregate assessment of the performance of all Indian States and UTs, and to help leaders and change makers evaluate their performance on social, economic and environmental parameters. The index comprises 105 indicators and uses a traffic light system to indicate performance. The study finds that there is a notable regional disparity across achievement of the SDGs, with poor and conflict-affected countries at the highest risk of falling behind.
